Klingon Defense Force

The Klingon Defense Force is military arm of the Klingon Empire.Here is a selection of short biographies of notable Klingons in the military.

Chang
General. Chief of Staff to Chancellor Gorkon. Conspired with members of the Federation to assassinate Chancellor Gorkon and thus block the peace initiative. He was killed at Khitomer in 2293 when attempting to disrupt the peace conference that was being held there.

Hon'Tihl
First officer of the Bird of Prey "Toh'Kaht". Died from injuries received while exploring the Gamma Quadrant.

Kang
Commander. Ship destroyed by the Beta XII-A entity in 2268. One of the first known Klingons to join forces with a Federation crew to meet a common foe. Visited Station Deep Space Nine many years later with long-time companions Kor and Koloth.

Kargan
Captain. Commander of the Bird of Prey "Pagh". Was William Riker's commanding Officer as part of the Exchange Program between the Klingon Empire and the Federation in 2365.

Kerla
Brigadier. Military advisor to Chancellor Gorkon and later to his daughter Azetbur who took over his position upon his assassination. Kerla opposed the peace initiative of 2293.
(This role was portrayed by actor Paul Rossilli.)

Klaa
Captain. Commander of the Bird of Prey ordered to rescue General Koord at Nimbus III. He also served as translator at the trial of Kirk and McCoy in 2293.

Klag
Second Officer of the Bird of Prey "Pagh". Convinced by Riker of the abilities of humans to command.
(This role was portrayed by actor Brian Thompson.)

K'nera
Commanded the cruiser sent to extradite the criminals Korris and Konmel to Qo'noS. He was to take custody of them at a rendezvous with the Enterprise in 2364, but they both died before completion of the transfer.

Koloth
Captain. Officer who encountered Tribbles at "Deep Space Station K-7". Visited Station Deep Space Nine many years later along with his long-time friends Kor and Kang.

Konmel
Lieutenant. Dishonorable criminal killed in 2364 while trying to avoid prosecution.
(This role was portrayed by Charles B. Hyman.)

Koord
General. Brilliant military strategist who had a distinguished career with the Klingon Defence Force. Ended his career as the diplomatic representative of the Klingon Empire on Nimbus III after falling out of favor with Klingon High Command.
(This role was portrayed by Charles Cooper who also played Klingon High Council Leader K'mpec.)

Kor
Commander. Military Governor of Organia during the border dispute of 2267 Although seemingly controlling the Organians, he was overthrown by them when they were discovered to be superior, non-corporeal life forms. Visited Station Deep Space Nine many years later with his long-time companions Koloth and Kang.

Korax
Member of Koloth's crew who visited "Deep Space Station K-7" in 2267.
(This role was portrayed by actor Michael Pataki.)

Korris
Captain. Dishonorable criminal who caused the destruction of the cruiser "T'Acog" in 2364 and hijacked the Talarian ship "Batris". He was killed prior to being extradited by the Klingon Empire.
(This role was portrayed by actor Vaughn Armstrong.)

Kras
Officer in charge of obtaining mining rights to the rare mineral "topaline" on Capella IV. Kras attempted to gain favor by supporting one side of a revolt but was killed when he betrayed his new "allies".

Kruge
Commander. Commander of the Bird of Prey who attempted to obtain the Federations "Genesis" project for the Klingons in 2285. He was killed by Kirk at the Genesis planet.

K'Temoc
Captain. Commander of the ship "T'Ong". Historically a very formidable warrior.
(This role was portrayed by actor Lance le Gault.)

Kulge
Officer who swore loyalty to Gowron during the Klingon Civil War of 2368. Was killed by Gowron when he started to doubt Gowron's leadership abilities.
(This role was portrayed by actor Jordan Lund.)

Kunivas
Dishonorable criminal killed with Konmel and Korris in 2364.
(This role was portrayed by actor Robert Bauer.)

Kurn
Commander. Son of Mogh and younger brother to Worf. Commanded the ship "Hegh'ta". His support of Gowron with his ship and three Klingon squadrons were vital to the victory and placement of Gowron as the leader of the High Council. Kurn was later granted a seat on the High Council for his service to the Empire.

K'Vada
Captain. Commanded the Bird of Prey that secretly took Picard to Romulus in 2368.
(This role was portrayed by actor Stephen Root.)

Larg
Captain. Officer loyal to the Duras family during the Klingon Civil Wa of 2367 through 2368. He engaged and damaged the "Hegh'ta" commanded by Kurn.
(This role was portrayed by actor Michael G. Hagerty.)

L'Kor
Warrior survivor of the Khitomer massacre of 2346. He was taken prisoner by the Romulans and remained on a prison planet rather than bring dishonor to his family by returning to Qo'noS.
(This role was portrayed by actor Richard Herd.)

Maltz
Officer on board Kruge's Bird of Prey. He was the only survivor of the crew at the encounter with Kirk at the "Genesis" planet. Later aided Federation language experts in their study of the Klingon language.

Mara
Science officer aboard Kang's ship and his wife. She was a victim of the Beta XII-A entity.
(This role was portrayed by actress Susan Howard.)

Mogh
Powerful political rival to Ja'rod. He and his mate were killed at the Khitomer massacre of 2364. Original dishonored by K'mpec for treason at Khitomer, his family honor was restored by Gowron when it was disclosed that in reality, Duras's father Ja'rod had been the instigator of the massacre. Mogh was the father of Worf and Kurn.

Morag
Commander of a Klingon ship that patrolled the Federation Border near Relay Station 47. He was instigated in the murders of Federation personnel, but was later cleared of all charges.

Nu'Daq
Commander of the cruiser "Maht-H'a". He joined forces with the Federation in order to uncover the mystery of an ancient genetically encoded message.
(This role was portrayed by John Cotran.)

Tel'Peh
Captain. Commanded the Bird of Prey "Toh'Kaht" that was destroyed as a result of its exploration of the Gamma Quadrant.

Vixis
First Officer of the Bird of Prey commanded by Klaa.
(This role was portrayed by actress Spice Williams.)

Worf
Colonel. Grandfather of Worf and father of Mogh. Unsuccessful legal defender of Kirk and McCoy for the murder of Chancellor Gorkon in 2293.
(This role was portrayed by actor Michael Dorn.)

Worf
Lieutenant Commander. Son of Mogh. Husband to K'Ehleyr. Survivor of the Khitomer massacre of 2346. First Klingon to serve in Starfleet. Has a younger brother named Kurn and a son, Alexander.
