Wow, I have just find this forum and I-m finding it awesome!

I am not a native english nor thlIngan Hol speaker, so I am already apologizing for any mistakes I could make. My "human" name is Luis, and I´m just from a little corner of South America (there´s not much Klingon here, you know!).

About my Klingon name, Hamlet, I´ve taken It from any well instructed Klingon favourite human writer: Shakespeare.

And, about that, do you know if the name Hamlet correctly fits the phonology of thlIngan Hol ?

May you die with honor, sons of Kahless!

No! Hamlet is an obscure historic figure, an ancient prince of Qo´noS, I think.

I would have to study very hard to being able to read the Hamlet tragedy in its Klingon original!

Indeed, it´s not important where are we from. We are just "Terrans" for most part of the galaxy. And inside this forum, what we are is Klingon !

As a matter of fact, it fits typical Klingon word structure perfectly.

Words are usually cvc or cvccvc. However, there is sometimes cv, cvcvc and, with clear, seemingly strict restrictions, cvcc. There are a few more variations, but they rarely show up and the preceding are most common.

Yes, since Klingon is supposed to be spoken boldly, I use bold face to represent Klingon text vs English.  Hamlet is perfectly formed Klingon morphology(as El Pasayo Malo points out) and phonology (even the capital H is good, Klingon language does not have the concept of capitalization, capital letters are used to write distinct Klingon letters, Q is not the same letter as q), it is not the same sound as English.  Back-transliterated to English it is usually rendered as KHamlet.  The H represents the sound of Scottish loch, the first sound in the Hebrew word Chutzpah, or the j in Mexican Spanish words.  I do not know if this sound is in South American dialects of Spanish.

I used to have a song to remember the South American capitals, but I can't remember it! }}:\   Yes, My guess was that your Terran language was Danish, but you speak Terranglo remarkably proficiently.

Finally... Most importantly.  Welcome to the Klingon Imperial Forums.  I am the Chief Technician, so if you experience difficulty, sending me a private message will be the most direct route, feel free to include Administrator Kesvirit and Ambasador Lady K'zin for full attention.
