Klingon Culture: What to speak about

 qaleghneS' all , I have been asked to be part of a panel at a Scifi-Anime Convention in October, the panel is on " Klingon Culture " But I'm terrible at public speaking, well I mean with an audience, and to tell the truth I don't know what I should speak about.

Any Ideas are welcome, as long as it is simple.

What is your human passion or pet peeve? Have you found any reference to a Klingon equivalent? I'd start there...

KDar, I know we have spoken of this over IM, so please forgive any redundant suggestions.

You panel chair/event organizer should be able to help you narrow down your topic. As I understand it, this is a big part of their job, as is agreeing with panelists ahead of time over who will cover what subtopics.

If, however, you are totally left to your own devices, you may be able to get away with opening up your portion of the panel to a question-and-answer session.

One thing I might address is how Klingon cultures have been presented onscreen over time. We have “Genghis Khan and the Mongol hordes” of TOS, as pioneered by John Colicos; the ersatz Soviet militancy-turned-detente of the TOS film era; and neotrek’s “Viking Bikers From Outer Space”, to name a few.

Another is differing source materials of Klingon culture -- which aspects come from which of the TV series/films/books/RPg manuals. If you are feeling particularly corageous/cantankerous/Klingon, you could also address The Dread Canon and its impact on fandom.

I will continue to mull this over and see if I can come up with some better suggestions.

As for difficulties with public speaking, you have my sympathies. All I can say is, better you than me. }};-)
