Greetings,

I have just noticed that there appears to be an issue with New Message notifications?

Sometimes I am alerted, sometimes I am not...

Also occasionally I seem to have a Negative number in my PM Box?

I am guessing that I am not the First to note this, but I could not find another thread on the subject, so I figured I'd create One...

the negative numbering comes because you don't get notification of a new message, but after you read and delete the message, the number goes backwards.  I was down to minus four at one point.  I did mention it to Klythe during the chat on saturday night but at that point I  did not know it was happening to other people as well.

oh, a quick edit to pick up on something in SoplaHtaHwI's post... I have never ever received email notifications, but at the top of the forum page is a little box on the left that is labelled user info.  At the moment, mine states the following..

"Hey, Kehlan, you have -1 messages, 0 are new. "

Thats how I keep track of my messages - or would if it worked properly.

     I have started to investigate this but haven't found anything to report yet.   I just checked mine, and I have five more PMs than my indicator shows.   I think this may be related to the intermittant email notication issues we are seeing.   Thanks you Kehlan and Abbot for bringing this to my attention.  I'll keep investigating at let you know if I find anything out.

I found and activated a board stats recount/reset function. Has this had eany effect on inaccurate PM counts?

The counter says 20, I count 20. I guess something must have straightened out, as I have seen a difference of 1 before, in favour of the counter.

I have just found out that my message notification is not working again - I found two new messages that were not registered and one has been sitting there for over a month waiting for me to find it.

I just had a couple of messages register that had been around a little while... (Including yours about "Waves")... Not sure when the actual count changed however, as I may have just noticed it?

I'll try to pay closer attention in the near future, and see how it goes...

I think the message notification problem is tied in with the fsock monster notification problem. I'm a bit pressed for time but will get on it ASAP.
