discussion: Name for the Starbase

So alright, we need a name so that "Post Nemesis RPG" can be renamed to a better title.

Any suggestions on the Name of the Station?

Well, the Federation/Klingon Rapid Response Fleet flies out of Starbase 24, which in our little fictional world, orbits a planet named Frontera.  (Frontera is fiction, Starbase 24 is canon) Since Starbase 24 is on the Klingon Federation border but not too far from Romulan space, it worked well for us.

It would be pretty cool to tie the two together as we haven't got as far as inventing a crew etc for the starbase.

hmm *looking at the signature of Kehlan* if we would tie that together i couldn't have you as Kehlan on the station as you are already captain of the USS Endeavour NCC71805. Is Starbase 24 a federation/klingon base or a klingon base near the border?

Even if we decide on starbase 24, how about an klingon name for it, let the UFP call it starbase 24 . Of course other suggestions are welcome

Those are the same starcharts that we use.  Yes, its true that there is some Federation space on the far side of the Empire (according to the charts anyway), but I am not sure how it got there.

The only filk about my suggestion was the existance of Frontera.

As for Kehlan not being on the starbase,well the Endeavour and the rest of the Rapid Response fleet spend alot of time at starbase 24 and as flag captain she does have an office there.

Having said that, if you choose a different location,its not a problem for me.  It was just a suggestion.

Abbot, you probably dont need to buy the book - the most important and relevant starcharts have been long since scanned and are easily found on the net without buying the book.  although it is quite an interesting little book.

I like your suggestion for a Klingon name for the station.

Tedra, Starbase 24, is a Klingon/Starfleet base in our fiction as the Rapid Response Fleet is a mixed fleet with 4 Klingon ships and 4 Starships, although if X'na's Galaxy class USS Equestra joins us there will be an extra Feddie ship.

note to Qeytok:  you are MY chief engineer - any duties you choose to carry out on the starbase must be done in your off duty time!

I Have seen a Few scans like the ones in the links that you posted. And yes they are kewl... But, it would be nice to have the whole thing, as I understand that a lot of research went into "Identifying" where certain things took place during various episodes and the like...

That Said, it would be great if someone (With more skill than I), and a decent Graphics program, could create an online "Interactive" version... Sort of a Map Based (User Updatedable) "Wicki" where folks from different groups and clubs could define where they are at in RP terms... Name unamed systems etc... As a General resource for everybody...

You could also consider the word tengchaH 'space station'.  Deep Space 9 is called logh Hop Hut tengchaH in some canon source.

BTW, 'Sky-Ruler' would be chalmey che'wI', and the name comes before the class noun.

nice names, but none of them has something to do with the starbace/military/honor/vitory/or the stars.

    Hmmm?   Sorry, I don't know what you are talking about.   People are still talking about what they want the name to be.  Anyway, this RP is Tedra's idea so unless she tells me otherwise, she is the one who decides the rules and the names and anything else needed to run this RP.  I'm just a player...  And not a very active one (which is why I wanted to be a minor fill in duty officer and not first officer).

    That other RP about post-Hurq , that's my idea.  I'll run that one if there is enoguh interest, but in this game I'm just a semi-active player.  This game is all Tedra's to run or  delegate as she sees fit.
