OK. Now when I started my Google search, I was looking for the plush Klingon bears that used to be available at the Star Trek Experience in Vegas.

I came across this...

Very funny bear

Have you tried the ST Experience website?  its www.startrekexp.com   they usually have tons of stuff in the "store" section.  I saw some of the bears you were looking for in there.

I have seen many of the plush bears on eBay at various times. That is usually a good place to find Klignon Stuff.

I have actually just obtained one of these bad taste bears.  My Feddie husband thought it would make an amusing gift...

Ihey are about 2.5 inches high and are made of stone, they are not plush.  I will say oine thing though, they made me laugh.  And if you think the Klingon one is bad, then I won't comment on some of the others, the Elvis one for example - now they really are bad taste bears!

I think the bear's kinda cute.  Wink

And thanks for the link to the ST Experience. I so very much envy those folks who get to see that attraction.

My landed immigrant status is confirmed on Friday (I am *so* excited!!), and then it will be easier for me to go out of Country (and then get back in...that was the hard part before, lol). And as my wife has recently discovered Texas Hold em in a BIG way, I think I could convince her to go to Las Vegas for our next out of Country vacation without too much trouble. ::rubs hands together gleefully::  Tongue

So maybe I'll get to snag a plush Trek teddy bear for myself someday soon. Or I'll make my wife buy me one. Either way.  Wink

I will admit to being another one who would love to get hold of that lovely plush Klingon bear.  One got auctioned for charity at a convention I went to but the price went way above what I could afford.

I want a Targ

Yeah, those are cool from the ST:EXP.  But as I was watching Ted Nugent's "Spirit of the Wild" one night, a totally weird idea came to me. He was hunting in Africa and harvested a large Warthog. As they got close to the rather large beast, I thought..."that would be a cool Klingon animal."

What if you could domesticate a Warthog?  Wouldn't that be the most awesome Targ?  I've seen them in a zoo, they are rather large and the tusks and head shape are like totally wild & foreign looking. Just random thought...but that would be totally radical.

I don't know of any reason why you couldn't domesticate a warthog. Other thant he fact that they're a protected wild animal and you would have to have a permit to keep one.  Smiley
Pigs of all species are notoriously smart. If raised from a baby, I'l bet the little warthog would be a cool guy to have around (neutered, of course. Testosterone tends to add trouble to wild animal keeping).  Wink

Of course, we don't have many warthogs running wild around my part of the world, so it might be difficult to find one to domesticate.  Of course, we do have wild boar in some parts of the country so maybe one of those would do instead.

Hmm, I could even threaten to feed my cats to it when they misbehave.... Wink

Sorry to nitpick here...   But while you might be able to 'tame' a warthog or 'habitituate' one, but there is no way to 'domesticate' individual animals.  You can try to domesticate a species or rather you and your decendants can, because domestication involves taking generations of breeding tamed animals for compliance and docility.   But some animals just don't domesticate.   There have been several attempts to domesticate zebras, all have failed.  You wouldn't think that zebras are all that different than horses or donkeys, but the only domesticate so far, they still remain too wild to be considered generally safe.   And considering how dangerous horses can be even though they've been domesticated for thousands of years...   Domesticating a warthog would be very difficult indeed.

That sounds like a challenge fit for a Klingon...

Yes, you *are* nitpicking.  Wink  I meant habituate, not domesticate. I wasn't looking to get hung up on semantics.

As for horses being "dangerous" you're takling to somebody with two University degrees in Equine fields, and I've owned and trained horses for many years. They're not dangerous if you know their psychology and how to work with them. But you are right about the Zebras, although Zorses are another matter. Zebras *have* been habitated, though, and that's what I was getting at. You could live with one, probably, although you would have to be an expert on the animal. Wild animals of any species do not make good pets. Period.

But the idea of a habituated warthog is an intriguing one. Smiley
