Stumbled into this post doing a web search. I am Brig. Maltz epetai-T'Ir 'Uh (otherwise known as Goldy). I am the Lead singer for WarBand...which is located in Tampa, FL. We still exist and play in the Tampa, FL area. Any questions relating to the band can be addressed to me at

http://www.warband-rocks.comWe started out in 1998 as a Klingon Rock Band...over time we've morphed into a Classic Rock/Modern Rock Band. All of us have retired from being Klingon at this point (although we do occasionally gear up). The only Klingon gig we still perform regularly is the Klingon Feast held in Daytona each year.
To answer about recordings.
K'Filk was recorded in 1999 for a Star Trek convention called Odyssey in Ft. Myers (no longer in business). It was recorded on a Yamaha YT-100 4 track cassette recorder. The quality is OK. The pop and cracking you're referring to was caused by the .MP3 conversion that was done by a fan that wanted to put them online (intially K'Mel of Atlanta put them up). The original has none of those problems. You do hear some tape hiss (again this was done on a cassette recorder). Also, K'Filk was NOT a live recording. We recorded it in sessions over 2 weeks.
The Live recording being mentioned here is a DVD called "To Be or Not to Be". It was recorded at Dave's Aqua Lounge in St. Petersburg, FL. J.G. Hertzler (who is friends with the band) had been contracted by Paramount to do a Fan DVD for the box set they were coming out with. He wanted us to submit footage of us playing so that it might be used on the disc. Some friends of ours came out and taped us and produced this disc. It was a rush job as we were given 3 days to schedule the gig, perform the gig, edit the footage and send it out. It shows as the quality of this recording is lacking. They had problems with the sound recording and its quality is bad at best. Further, the editing was rushed and there are several places where we are noticibly out of sync with the music. It was not used by Paramount (which I'm now glad about...but at the time...) and would have gone straight in the trash but a BUNCH of our fans wanted copies. So we went back and tried to edit it (do something to improve it). I built the menu systems and we also did a "Live Interview" in character that actually is the one thing that makes the Disc worthwhile in my opinion.
We now have a Korg D-1200 (Digital 8-track Recording system) that we use to record and we've discussed going back and redoing K'Filk (since it would be a LOT better quality now)...but we're not sure the interest is really there anymore. We used to get asked for copies of this all the time...this is the first I've heard of someone looking for it in 2 years.
This is probably WAY more info than you wanted, but this is truth. Summary: The CD is K'Filk and was recorded in sessions. The DVD is "To Be or not to Be" and was a Live recording.
