tlhIngan maH!

I am Abbot Nej vIt, of the Dugh toy'wI' Library.

I have only Now Discovered these Forums, and have not yet Read through them, However this seemed the Most Likely First Step. So I Have Introduced Myself Beneath the Naked Stars! In the Name of QeylIS but by the Will of each and Every Klingon here, May there Be Great Deeds and Great Songs to Follow!

You may be a newcomer to these Forums, but you have already made quite an impressive impression on them.

But the Dugh toy'wI' Library has not been included in the many topics to which you have posted. As one who is always scenting for new sources of knowledge, I would like to hear more about it.

Richard the Sound Guy: "And the next person to lecture me about canon risks getting shot out of one! Right, gaffers?"
Gaffers make appreciative and supportive remarks in the form of bad imitations of primate calls from the direction of the lighting grids.

You are Gracious in Your Welcome to these Forums... Perhaps this Information will Answer some of Your Questions...

As to the Library... We are a Newly Established Chapter of K.L.A.W. 4th Fleet... (Though Several of Our Members are Veterans of the Club, Including Myself)... And are Still In The Process of Organizing Ourselves. It Has Taken Sometime and a lot of Work to Get Formal Recognition as a "New" Branch of Service Within K.L.A.W. 4th Fleet. But we are Finally There and "Official"!

From a "Real World" Perspective:

I See the Library and the Klingon Clergy as a Good Opportunity, Or Vehicle as it were, to Establish an Archieval Mission, in Addition to Efforts of Community Service. As Stated it is a New Addition to the Organization and we are Just Beginning to Get Our selves To A Point where we can Start to Implement some of Our Ideas, So I Did Not Wish to Overly Dramatize Works that were still in the Concept Stages. This is Why I have Not Publically Said Much About it on these Forums.

The Library has Also turned out to be a Nice Alternative to Offer Members that Do Not Wish to Be Diplomats, Marines Or Naval Officers... In Particular, It has Given at Least One Member Who had Been Listed as "Ships Historian" of a Given Chapter, The Chance to Perform that Function AND Have a Framework From which to Work, and Direct Support of a Dedicated Branch.

Some of the Things That we would like to Concentrate on are:

-Actively Organizining and Participating in Local Community Service Efforts. (We Have A Couple of Interesting Ideas On The Drawing Board, that I Would Not Wish to Talk About Specifically Until More Work has Been Done Towards their Seeing the Light of Day...<Grin>...)

-Developing a Data Base of Clergy Both Within K.L.A.W. 4th Fleet, and also From Outside of Our Organization, In an Effort to Expand the Concept of Klingon Spirituality and its Many Forms.

-Working on Establishing The Library as an Eventual Source for Klingon Rituals and Ceremonies. Again Both Those Created or Expanded upon by Our own Club Members as Well as those From Outside of the Club that may Wish to Contribute.

-Offering Our Services (Within Role-play), as Spiritual Advisors to the Empire as Needed. And Providing a Priestly Componant to (Again in Role-play), Such Ceremonies and Rituals that Other Klingons may Request such as Consortship Ceremonies, Weddings, Funerary Rites, Baptisims or What ever.

-And Most Recently, We Have Been Working Very Hard on Putting Together an Event we are Calling "The Klingon Summer Games". Which Will Be a Team Oriented Competition, Where Chapters/Ships/Units Will Compete for the "Coveted" Elite Unit Citation Award, or E.U.C. (I Have Not Posted Our Web-site Here, As I Had Not Asked about Your Policy for Doing so, since it is Sort of a Promotional Event). This Will Be Open to ALL Klingons Regardless of Club Affiliation.

From a Role-play Perspective:

I Wanted to Take an Opportunity to Explore a Bit More In Depth the Spirituality of Klingons... Many Cultures See Their Warriors as Deffenders of the Faith, or in Other ways are Held in Regard For the Deep Spirituality Which Often Guides and Motivates Those Warriors, But they are Usually of a Specific "Cast"... By Nature Klingons "Are" a Warrior Race, although not Every Klingon Serves the Empire by Joining the Military, Many Do, and Nearly Every Klingon One Might Meet Regardless of Military Service Should Be Respected As a Warrior at Heart. The voqna' qeylISQun chIrgh, (Of Which Dugh toy'wI' Library is a Satelite), Focuses on this Concept.

Our Order, or chIrgh is Representative of a Religious Institution Which has it's Roots on Boreth, And Accepts QeylIS as its Spiritual Patron, But Not as a God. More Formal and Structured, than the Monks of Boreth, And Some Might Even Say More Militant, But Less Poilitical, the voqna' qeylISQun chIrgh Strives to Serve the Empire and It's Citizens By Supporting the Truths Found in the Teachings of QeylIS.

We Believe Strongly that Klingon Spirituality Glows Brightly and Naturally In Every Klingon, Not Just Within the Clergy, And Would Endeavor to Encourage Each Klingon to Fine Tune this And Make it an Enriching Part of their Everyday Lives. In this way we would Minister Directly to the People of the Empire by Working And Fighting Alongside them. The Teachings of QeylIS do not Belong only to Academic Monks, Who Contemplate Obscure Philosophy upon Rural Mountain Tops, But are The Cultural Heritage of ALL Klingons! We Do Not Bear Judgement However Against our More Monastic Brothers and Sisters, Their Role too is Important, But We Preffer a more Active Stance in Serving the Greater Good Of The Empire!
