tlhIngan Hol mu'mey law' vISov jIH 'a vItoghlaHbe'. mu'ghom vIghaj 'ej pIj vIlo'. mu'ghomwIj vIchenmoH 'ej ghop De'wI'Daq vIpol. lo'laHghach Dunqu' ghaj.
Did you mean to make a poll? I can make a poll and we can find how skilled we are.
As for me, I know many Klingon words but I can't count them. I have a dictionary and I use it often. I made my dictionary and I keep it on my hand-held computer. It has lots of wonderful value.
Ok, that last line just doesn't sound as good in the English as the original Klingon.
But thats what you get from a forced translation.
Thanks goes to ngabwI' for pointing out a minor translation error. I was thinking one thing when I wrote the Klingon and something different when I wrote the English.

I speak very little klingon. But, I am attempting to teach myself klingon using the Klingon Dictionary, Klingon for the Galactic Traveler and Power Klingon. (It's easier now with power klingon because I not only see how to pronounce the sounds but I can also hear Mark Okrand pronounce them) On that note, if anyone knows how to get a hold of Conversational Klingon other than on the internet please let me know-- I can not find it anywhere.

I speak very little, and with good reason. I speak english, everyone else speaks english, so why learn a language when i speak a language that most people speak and everyone else is learning (now theres a klinogn attitude for yah)

Simply put, because it is fun and interesting.
Note: I did not say EASY. But I do not find the concepts mutually exclusive.
Perhaps you do, and that's OK.
All of this (Klindom) is intended as a diversion, entertainment. If the challenge of another language is not your idea of a good time, so be it. It is no different from the fact that I'd rather pull my upper lip over my head than attend a baseball game.
Deathly boring, baseball...
I digress, however.
Note: This post was not intended to attack the quoted poster. It is easy to miss the meaning of a directly-worded post. I am not flaming, merely issuing an opinion. I come in peace.

Okay sure, i suppose you have a point. I'm still not not learning it though, i'm a college and i have to learn more useful things, if I clutter up my mind with an entire language, imagine what useful info i'll push out of my head.
On saying that, I do like to learn other alphabets but thats becasue I have an interest in codes and ciphers, and i suppose I do have an interest in languages, just not enough time or patience to learn one.
I too would rather pull my upper lip over my head than go to a baseball (or any other crappy american, english, german or otherwise sport for that matter)

I know what you mean. I still can't find my keys.

And that might lead into full-fledged languages, but I don't feel that you should be disparaged for not wanting to learn it. (Vice versa is true, as well, though.)

I have memorized scant few words, but I study the grammar, morphology, philosophy and other aspects of the design of the language to complement my understanding of Klingon culture. I much perfer to learn the words that do not translate, then the hundreds of words that so far as the Klingon Dictionary will tell us are exactly equivallent to another word in English.
You can memorize all the words you wish, but if you use them like a terran, you may find you wish that you did not learn the word before learning how to use it.

And yet you, who simultaneously speak very little tlhIngan Hol and refuse to learn it, apparently think yourself fluent enough to lecture me in on the intricacies of transliteration in the Paramount Hol thread. I shall have to have a talk with your instructors about this. Either they are shirking thier duties in teaching, or you are shirking your duties in learning.

 I take it you both refer to a work by one of Earth's greatest solons known as

As to pulling my upper lip over my head versus sitting through a baseball game: These are my only options? (And ngabwI' -- would you not have particular difficulty with the former? And would not your fellow baseballs take offense?
)
Could I not watch the grass grow instead? At least then I could occupy my time by observing societies in minitature as the tiny creepycrawlies went about what passes for their insignifigant lives?
My time would be even more productive were I allowed to bring a magnifying glass and a child's instructional fabrication model. }}>:-D
