hello everyone,
must admit i only came across this site when looking for some specific translations. i know very little about the language! in the end though, i thought it might be fun to hang around a bit. please don't get the wromg idea about my name, though. naming myself after a stripey kids character was the first thing that popped into my head. if anyone has any (clean) suggestions for a name more approriate for a site dedicated to the warrior's tongue, i would appreciate it (unless most klingons are closet winny the pooh fans....)
looking forward to getting to know you all!

This site is not, strictly speaking, a {tlhIngan Hol} site, but it has a firm grasp on everything else Klingon.

For language, you'll want to visit the Klingon Language Institute. There, you'll find an email discussion group, with a fellow by the name of QeS lagh acting as the Beginners' Grammarian (BG for short). He's a very patient soul, and you'll find him informative and easy to speak with.

I'm done plugging the KLI. If I've stepped on any toes, I apologize, just pistolwhip me back into line. }}: )

Once more, with feeling. Otherwise, Grammarian, you may be feeling --

Zan tiggr, for thoughts on choosing a name I direct you to the Klingon Names thread.

However, I myself prefer your current name.  It is original and carries with it a certain enthusiasm, and lacks the limiting gravitas that tends to affect those named after prominent figures in Imperial history

In trying to give it a Klingon spin I came up with {Supbogh tlhuQmo' vIghro'}, or "catlike creature who jumps with tail". However, I have undoubtedly butchered the syntax, and {Supbogh tlhuQmo' vIghro'} is a bit unwieldly for a call-name. Would the one consider {tlhuQSupwI'}, roughly "one who tailjumps"?

(If this holds any appeal to you, I strongly recommend running it by a more learned speaker than I in order to avoid unnecessary embarrassment. }};  )

Gaffers make appreciative and supportive remarks in the form of bad imitations of primate calls from the direction of the lighting grids.

In my other group, the Star Trek/Star Wars crossover where everyone is a furry animal(Think Disney's "Robin Hood").  The chief villain is a sithly tiger, who has unavoidably acquired 'tigger' as one of the nicknames that people refer to him by when he is not present.    So at least in my case, your name holds a certain feeling of dread.   Which is a very good thing for a Klingon name.
