I'm afraid I do not understand your question, sir. Are you looking for a "Klingon writing" symbol for the letter "L"? One is extant, but please see this thread for a more thorough treatment of using pIqaD in tattoos.

Sorry, I'll need an explanation of "nutted it out". "Screw up, make a mistake" is what I get from context. Please confirm or explain.

Now, what are you spelling? What language are you starting from, what's the target language, and what is the source material (the word you are trying to spell)?

Well, I can try, but you're probably not going to like the answer.

We have two nouns, {toDuj}, which means "courage" and {qajunpaQ}, which is an audacious courage. (Think "loose cannon", and you'll be very close.)

We have two types of honor. {quv}, which is a personal type of honor, and {batlh} which is "Honor", capitalized, referring to a whole system of honor, and the rules that go along with it.

We have a noun, {qorDu'}, which, IMHO, refers to a single instance of a family, rather than the concept. (To be fair, we've not received too much guidance on this word, but there is evidence to support this idea. That might change if Marc Orand, the inventor of the language, ever starts talking about family.)

I hope I've not muddied the waters too much. Repost, and I'll see what I can do. Good luck.

what i did was simply go to the Kilingon Alphabet and choose the symbol for the corrosponding letter for the word that i was trying to spell, but it now appers that i need further study, i hope this clears up some confusion.

pIqaD does not include a symbol for the letter 'F'. Phonetically I believe the closest to it is 'V' (I am open to correction). You said that you had identified the letters needed to replace it, though you had decided to go with another phrase. What letters did you choose, and how did you decide upon them?

*growls* I thought it need not even be said in the Posting Guidelines: Do NOT Post When Drunk. Do NOT Prove Me Wrong.

Your link to the Klingon Alphabet produced a commercial search engine. Did you intend to link to http://www.omniglot.com/writing/klingon.htm?

Several times your have written of a "trible pattern". Be sure to give the tattoo artist verbal as well as written instructions. You do not want the one with the needle to confuse tribal with tribble.  The repercussions could be most severe amongst your fellow Klinfolk. }}; )

thanx for the info Kesvirit, the first idear was to simply spell the three words in English with Klingon symbols (if you follow me), but since there is no F i couldent do that, so i started a search and came up with this thread http://klingon.org/smboard/index.php/topic,296
so i put that into practise and put a post together my self to see if i was right, but i wasent, but thanx to some help advice, i chose some words to suit.
