Someone else started this and I am going to take advantage of the opportunity they provided. I have scoured the net and compiled an extensive amount of information. I wish to form a "Blood Drive Council" if you will to create a database of resources and information to allow Klindom to successfully host blood drives. There has been a running "Blood Wars" between the Star Trek and Star Wars fans for a while now, though it has fallen by the wayside for a lack of leadership. I wish to change that an am looking for a few proactive individuals to step up an assist me with this challenge.

Do you have what it takes?

We will need a couple of webmasters familiar with FrontPage.
We will need a Host site that works with FrontPage Server Extensions.
We will need a representative from each Klingon Organization. (i.e. KAG, KLAW, Empire Online, Independent Empire, All of the Guilds, KLAAS, KAI, KEI, etc.)
Anything I have not thought of that you have? Let me know.

I know we could do this on an eList but do we really need another one of them? Most are simply taking up space and doing nothing. Here all could see what is being done and provide another prospective with fresh eyes.

Since this is not a technical forum, you may which to leave specific technological requirements out of it.   You need talented Webmasters, Web servers, and a hosting company that all agree on what technologies to use for the pages, and are aware of the security issues involved with it.   These technical issues should be raised in the Webmaster's Guild.

The most important thing to discuss here is how to attract the representatives and what rules there would be for the blood drive:

Do you have to be in costume when you donate?

What materials need to be submitted for verification purposes?

How are donations scored?  By number of donation events, total volume of blood, etc.   Does plasma count at the full rate or what fraction of a whole blood donation is to be awarded?

When someone wishes to do something on this scale, an outline is generally the best way to start. I have been putting thought and effort into this for a while, but with the personality types in Klingdom if I was to lay it all out and say, "This is what you do" I would spend most of my time dodging flying blades. Not to mention the fact there are many people here, with specific life experiences that may see something I failed to. The concept of a cross group project requires that more than one person is involved in the process.

Actually that is not what I am attempting to accomplish here. I would like to create a format or outline, if you will, to allow clubs or individuals to host a blood drive with minimal effort, hence there should be more blood drives held as a result. Every Blood Bank has their own rules as to what is required to accomplish a blood drive.  I have an far from complete list of contact information for 107 blood banks across the US and while one organization runs multiple facilities, a complete list of all blood banks, made available, would facilitate the hosting of a blood drive. The easier it is the more prone people are to do it. The more people whose lives are saved by the end result.

I would think this would be a matter of personal choice. Is the hosting club making this a costumed event. Many factors would come into play in this. Health issues, climate, etc..

From personal experience, the blood bank will give the donor a "receipt" that allows them to call back to check their cholesterol level. Another advantage of blood donation. A Sharpe to cross out personal information and then use it for the tally.

Based on past experience it has always been set up by blood volume. Since plasma is generally a commercial situation it would not necessarily be prudent to even get into that. Now with the high demand and low supply of bone marrow donors a special recognition for such a person would not be out of line. Other considerations would be necessary. Recognition for the person or club that hosted the event for not all are able to donate but that should not deter them from being involved.
