Hello! I'm a New Zealander too! I don't speak Klingon at all, let alone fluently.
Sorry for being rude, but I'm just gonna steal your thread briefly to ask a question, as mine seems to be along the same lines as yours. I too really want to learn to speak Klingon. However I have a difficulty: My Mother is completely opposed to it. She's reluctant enough about letting me watch Star Trek at all, and as for buying books or CDs to help me learn Klingon, or even letting me buy them... It's not gonna happen. I AM willing to spend money, but I have to avoid parental detection. Is there a website I can sign up to or anything? Some way I can get help without my parents finding out? Hello to all, and thank you, and sorry for stealing the thread; I didn't think I needed to start a whole new one just to ask a slightly different variation of the original question.
Oh my; that's rough!
The websites I'd recommend are
www.klingonska.org (where I myself got started) and
http://hol.kag.orgI can also recommend joining the Klingon Language Institute's mailing list at
http://www.kli.org/tlhIngan-Hol/There you can see people talking both in and about Klingon, and join in the discussion if you'd like.
Oh, and here's a blog post by a klingonist called DeyvID:
