Hi everyone, I'm qorvatlh, a long-time fan of Star Trek and of Klingons especially. I've lurked on this forum some but only now created an account. This place doesn't seem terribly active, but I'll do my best to get involved and be patient.

My main goal is to learn tlhIngan Hol. I've got my Klingon Dictionary right here to help with translations, but I'm hoping to just jump right into the tlhIngan Hol-only discussions and, although I know I'll make a TON of mistakes in the beginning, immerse myself in the language and absorb as much as I can.

By the way, my name is the Klingon version of Korvoth, the name I went by when I played Star Trek Online (I swear I'll never go back! Sick) It doesn't mean anything (aside from "scavenge100", if translated literally, I suppose), but I've grown fond of it.

Anyway, I'll try not to get on too many nerves with my ignorance.

Qapla'!

Welcome.

This place will be as active as we (which now includes you) make it. Do not worry about getting on anyone's nerves, some of our best threads have evolved that way.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Which is why I was planning to suggest making a push for numbers. You know, advertising and spreading the word, and stuff. How can I help do that?

Welcome to the Klingon Imperial forums qorvatlh,  I look forward to hearing what you have to say and responding to it. Cheesy Klingon Grin

Activity comes in waves, but has serious dropped off from tge highpoint... We haven't seen Klingons(and Worf doesn't count) in major roles in a movie since Star Trek 6, almost 20 years ago.  Despite all attempts, Voyager, Enterprise and the new movie haven't really brought in very many new Klingons into the fandom.

I don't think there is anything wrong with Star Trek Online, sure they rushed klingons in for release day, but they are working to fill in the holes with new content.  They have committed to filling in the gaps with appropriate Klingon falvored content before introducing any new factions.

We have been more aggressive about advertising in the past, but it didn't pay off well.  I think most people will tune out explicit advertising, especially if it's competing with their own little klingon Community.   The best advertising is word of mouth...  Take Star Trek Online, there is a place were casaul gamers and nacent Klingons hang out and play.  If you happen to run into a Klingon fan, and you demonstrate your knowledge of Klingon culture, language and society in a way that impresses your fellow Klingons, and they ask how you learned to be the Klingon you have become, well we'd be happy after telling them that it's all about listening to the screaming of your Klingon blood, that there might be some things here that might interest them...  So far that's been the most successful advertising that can be done, go where Klingons are, show your heart and if  With Google, people will tend to find us relatively quickly if they are actively looking.   Think about how you found out about these forums and what brought you to come back and read more, and finally sign up and post.
