It's amusing, but true.  The Captain of the USS Enterprise is permanently relieved of duty tonight pending an investigation into videos he produced in stared in four years ago, containing sexually explicit material and humour.  Also being investigated is why it took so long for this to be investigated.   Despite broad support of his crew the brass are not backing down in their declaring the videos "Clearly innappropriate".

Further information can be found here:  http://abcnews.go.com/WNT/video/lewd-videos-aboard-uss-enterprise-12532216
Watch all the way to the end where the reporter basically says, "Dammit, he's a commander, not a commedian"

Oh, that Enterprise. I was confused for a moment there. But in all fairness, this could have easily applied to Kirk as well. Smiley

Aaaaanyway...I understand why the guy was doing what he did, trying to boost ship morale, and I think it's admirable. He probably got a bit carried away, though :-P But I don't really think it's amusing. Just kind of sad and pathetic.

To be fair, I've been deliberately ambiguous as to which Enterprise, because it amuses me and makes good propaganda against the Federation.  This whole thing is a mess wether you think the Captain is being hounded over a well intentioned films to entertain and caution the crew about what sorts of things are inappropriate by way of humourous demonstration, or if he was well over the line and disgraced himself, the uniform and the whole service by degrading his position and attacking sailors with alternative lifestyles and it took for years before anyone took it seriously...  Either way this looks as bad for the high brass for looking away for years and bringing this up years after the fact, promoting him in the mean time, the other officers as well as the crew.

But it's far past time that the Admiralty did something about James Kirk!

It should be a violation of the Prime Directive to get involved with women from other cultures while on official business.

It is further proof of smooth head timidity and joyless lives. How often has an irreverant statement boosted morale or diffused a situation in your life?
My peole this PC world must go.Acceptance is not submission. What is the truth will remain so,regardless of ones inability to cope with harsh realities. If someone can't do it then aid them in doing so as you are stronger.
You don't smash your hand with a hammer and say "darn", you never let honor be subverted by collective opinion. Speak to me as an adult not a child.

Also I was Cav not a "squid" so it would be funny to someone who is rude crude and socially unacceptable.

For which sexes? Or genders? *snort* What kind of Klingon is going to observe the Federation's Prime Directive of Non-Interference? What are inferior cultures for if not to be used as tools for expansion?

So many species and sexual practices are tolerated in the Federation.... One might as well add gender-dismorphic bi-genitalian pan-sexuales to the forbidden list.

Feh.
