An honorless klingon is like a profitless ferengi!

I purchased Marc Okrand's dictionary...I think it's very good but I'm just having trouble memorizing all of it. I tried to learn the full thing, but I was just so bored and I couldn't get through it. Then I just tried to learn "clipped Klingon", but that didn't go so well, either. Then I just tried to learn a few phrases, but by then my patience was a thin as a Ferengi's courage. What is the best way to learn Klingon without being bored?

torqey out.

The absolute best way I know of to learn Klingon is to find an environment where it is spoken. I gained my biggest boost in skill with the language when the Klingon Educational Virtual Environment MUSH was active. It is, alas, defunct, and its replacement (see http://www.trimboli.name/klingon/mush.html for details) rarely has more than one person logged on.

You might find it helpful to subscribe to the tlhIngan-Hol email discussion forum (see http://www.kli.org/tlhIngan-Hol/ ). It goes through spurts of activity and periods of relative silence, but a fresh face usually brings people out to talk.

You may also wish to investigate the Klingon Postal Course, which can be taken on line as well as via snail.

We also have a long-dormant thread buried down here on learning strategies. As with many threads, it does wander...

thlIngan Hol is *written* in parts of this environment, in an area of the playground known as ”the sandbox” (“Conversation in thlIngan Hol only”). The Forums also have their own chat room at http://www.klingon.org/phpchat/index.php that is open for use. I suggest that those interested get together and schedule chat sessions. This interactive world time zone map can help interested parties in scheduling.

Ty for everyone's help! I might also take SFA's Klingon language course.
