First time poster here.....

Since my Klingon Dictionary hasn't come in the mail yet, I have spent several days looking on various translation sites and have thus far been unable to find the Klingon word for "warrior" which I find odd since it is so prevalent in their lifestyle.

Also I am fairly certain that you would not directly transcribe the english letters with the Klingon glyph equivalent.  I would transcribe the klingon pronunciation of the word correct??

Bear in mind I am brand new to studying the Klingon Language so please be gentle with your responses.

Greetings!

The word for "warrior" is SuvwI'; this consists of the verb Suv, meaning to fight, and the verb nominalizer suffix -wI', which is roughly the equivalent of the English -er, so SuvwI' is fight-er.  It is pronounced somewhat like zhoof-we.  Indeed, the glyphs you need here are the ones for S, u, v, w, I and '; in fact, some letters in the Latin alphabet are not represented in pIqaD (the set of glyphs most commonly associated with tlhIngan Hol, which is the language described in The Klingon Dictionary).

Hope that helps!  Also, you may want to check out Klingonska Akademien; they have an online dictionary there that's quite useful, among other great content.

I'm afraid that link doesn't work; I think that URL only works for you (considering it contains the text editAlbum).  I might recommend using ImageShack.us; you can upload images there even if you don't have an account (although you'll need an account to delete or update them).

Here is try number 2........

I have played with the idea of adding some red highlights around the glyphs, like shadows or a surrounding haze, to make it even more "empirish" however I just wanted plain black text to start off with (the red u might see is just swelling)

Ooh, nice!  And yeah, that's precisely the right transcription; a good thing, since a small mistake would make you not SuvwI', the one who fights, but SujwI', the one who disturbs Wink

A great tat! Qapla'! Did the tatoo artist look at you funny? Moreover, did you get the design printer on tattoo transfer or did you show the artist the design and they did it freehand?
