Was doing a search on Klingons and stumbled upon this forum. Hi everyone.

Quick question does anyone know how to edit our signature? I can't seem to find the setting anywhere.

You landed here while doing a search on Klingons. Why are you searching? Is there something specific you wish to know? Do not be afraid to be upfront. Specific questions are more likely to get you specific answers.

You are of course also encouraged to browse the boards and gain familiarity with the topics and posters therein. I daresay there are all manner of things waiting to be discovered by a newcomer. }}; )

As for adding a signature, there are a few permissions that are granted by post rank, and the use of a signature is one of them. They are reserved for use by those of the rank of Novice (5 posts) and up. It is one of the few incentives and rewards we have to offer our posters. Of the other major options that come with increased post count, Couriers at 25 posts can post attachments, Klingon Conversationalists may use avatars at 100 posts, and Thought Masters at 600 posts may add their own custom titles.

I'm honored by the welcome. Thanks for responses, I'll need to get some practice on these boards to before I get used to the settings.  My research is more personal work. I am a pretty big fan of the Star Trek Series. Mainly I started watching The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, and Voyager.  I have been watching a lot of the episodes again and have always been a fan of the Klingon Culture.  I'm surprised about how much info there is about them already.  I think the most intriguing part is there is a developed language already in place.  I have a few friends that know a few words and phrases but was wondering if there are any books or sites that are great sources for the language and culture. Anyone have good recommendations for a Klingon novice?

I would say that first and foremost is The Klingon Dictionary, after that I would try Klingon for the Galactic Traveler. Both books by Marc Okrand, who created the language.

Feh. “The Language” takes up but a corner of the Klingon Empire.  There was a lot of excellent material (and a lot of garbage) on things Klingon before TKD came out in ‘84 and before TNG debuted in ‘87. Aside from two series and six movies, there were twenty years of books, novels, and zines. Few concentrated on Klingon culture specifically, but many gave us tantalizing glimpses into different authors’ conceptions of Klingon culture.

I recommend you browse The Inspirational Media Room, beginning with the thread Resources for Klingon Culture. (Wouldn’t you know my personal picks would be mostly missing from the thread founder's library when the post was written? I never did find out if he corrected that oversight. }}: P )

A strongly felt declaration: when looking for books online, khest Amazon. Start with Powell’s instead and save Borgazon as a last result.
