While looking up Klingon Uniforms, I’ve stumbled across this site… thought I would check it out a bit more.

Next Halloween (2009) marks our 10 year anniversary… and we’re planning on renewing our vows!

When we first got married, money was tight, so my headpiece was made out of hot glue (I had 3rd degree burns from it), and the robe was made out of cloth from walmart. I made a batleth out of wood and painted it chrome and coated it candy apple red. I carved the names of our houses on it as well as the date.

Sadly the headpiece warped before the ceremony, so I had to use a pair of sunglasses to hold it up. Oh, and my sash was made of gold links and a logging chain. It weighed a hundred pounds or so. I had an interesting bone bruise from it later.

Here’s a wedding pic

For our 10 year I’m planning out the event a year in advance.

We had intended on renewing at the STE, but apparently they closed their doors in September. We’re still working on where the event should be held, but in the meantime I need to start working out my costume/props.

Past the initial thread that lead me here, I have to search over your forums to see what others have done, and what resources are available.

I plan on making my headpiece out of latex & foam this time around. I’m fairly proficient with both now.

I still need to research a metal batleth… sash… uniform… etc. I want it to be quality and authentic looking.

Thanks for having me, I look forward to getting to you know you all!

Congratulations on the 9 years you have shared together, and many more soon to come.  Welcome to the Klingon Imperial Forums. I'm Klythe one of the Administrators.  I handle most of the Technical issues, so if you have questions or suggestions about the forums themselves feel free to IM or email me.

Wow!   3rd Degree burns and bone bruises!  That is dedication!   I'm sure you'll find a few less injurious costuming ideas here.  Hopefully we can help you save any actual injuries for the battlefield and the bedroom rather than the wedding ceremony itself.  Cheesy Klingon Grin     I hope you didn't apply hot glue directly to your forehead!

Are these special costumes just for your wedding and renewal of vows?  With that level of difficulty of wearing that first costume, I wouldn't be surprised if you didn't!

I have heard some rumors of an new Star Trek Experience type exhibit on another (probably less expensive) site, but that is all they are rumours.

The costume is intended for when we renew our vows.

There was a sheet of foil to keep it from sticking to my head. But past that… it was glued in place. We didn’t know what we were doing.

I knew it was going to hurt like all holy hell when we were at Walmart buying up all of their sticks of hot glue… when it was peeled off and there was liquefied nastiness under it followed by a flood of intense pain… I came to the conclusion that I would find out how they make makeup next time.

Over Halloween I did just that

I still have a lot to learn, and only a year to accomplish it in. I should have started this last year. I’m kicking myself for procrastinating.

I’ve been looking over your forums… good stuff! Lots of great information, thank you for providing a place for us!
