Honorable Staff and members of the Klingon Imperial Diplomatic Corps and members of the imperial forums,

I write to you with an urgent request.

My name is Floris Schönfeld and I am a master student at the Royal conservatoire of Music in The Hague, The Netherlands.

For my study I have done an extensive research project on the high art of Klingon Opera. I have founded the Klingon Terran Research Ensemble here in the Netherlands whose goal it is to further understand and perform traditional Klingon music. For results of my research and some performances by the KTRE please see the links below.
The ensemble is currently working a pilot version of the Klingon opera 'U' that will premiere at the Zeebelt Theater on the 4th of Juli in The Hague.

I am currently looking for a Klingon of diplomatic distinction to preside over a panel of experts at my final examination in The Hague on the 27th of June.
I will give a presentaion of my research and the Klingon Terran Research Ensemble will give various examples of traditional Klingon musical battle.

Is there a diplomatic representative stationed in the vicinity of the Netherlands who would be willing to represent the Klingon empire at this event?
The examination will be attended by various prominent members of the Dutch cultural establishment as well as local and national press services.

I would gladly reimburse any travel costs involved in the attending the examination and could provide accommodation for the delegate.

Yours honorably,

Floris Schönfeld

Hello Floris,

I am not part of the KIDC, but am one of the few members of these fora that lives in the Netherlands.
I would be happy to come visit your examination, alas depending on the time it is to take place.

Can you give me more information? When preferred via a personal message.

zanFloris,

Well met. I am Nej vIt, Abbot of the dugh toy'wI' chIrgh and I see you.

Being a resident of the U.S. I will not be in attendance. However, I have watched the YouTube battle that you linked to and am impressed. In fact the whole concept looks very interesting to me. I have been interested in hearing about various peoples takes on Klingon music of all sorts, though obviously Klingon Opera is very Iconic.

I would be further interested in learning more about what you folks are working on, and 'U' in particular. For a brief overview of my approach (curious interest) to studying Klingon music, have a look at this page of theKIDC forums.

Qapla'! {Success}...

Post Script - SoplaHtaHwI', if you make this event please post a report on it? I would very much like to know how this goes.

maj! {Good}...

I am not an experienced Klingonist, not a member of the KLI, but I just have to compliment you on your work; this is a great contribution to Klingon fan culture!

Greetings to you Floris,

I also am unable to attend, being in the US, but it appears that our brother warrior has taken care of that duty. I am very impressed with the musical work you havedone. As a student of the Ceremonial Arts and how they relate to Klingons I am extremely interested in that tiq'yay ceremony and what it is used for.

All of my newer ceremonies now include music and I am working on retrofitting music into my older ones. Bells have always played a central part in what our order does, although usually as more of a punctuation than actual music.

I do wish you well on your final examination. Let me know if there is anything I can assist you with from over here.

I'll do what I can...
I will certainly attend one of the shows on 4-6 july...

I must admit having to get to used to the whole thing of Klingons and their music outside of the canon (Paraborg) scope...
It's getting to me now. I did like the Quj HoSchem/Quj HoSDo' (watch the spelling video and accompanying text...

Qapla' Floris!

Floris has meanwhile contacted me directly and I have sadly, due to RL considerations, had to decline the opportunity to attend as a Diplomatic representative.

The Abbot might still get his report, after I attend one of the shows. I should be able to sort out my make-up by then...
