Klingon Map Project I am working on.

Hey Guys,
It has been awhile since I have been on. I am wondering if you guys would be willing to help. I just recently picked up Star Trek Star Charts and thought it would be cool to have the Klingon Empire redone in Klingon.

My question is about is there a rule of thumb for translating Federation names or non klingon names of the planets into Klingon? Some are obvious. Take for instance B'moth, Qu'vat, K't'inga eta....

But what about names like
Narendra
Mempa
Khitomer
Brestant
Gamma
H'atoria

I just thought it would be a fun project. Not that I don't have enough of those from another forum.

You could use the tlhIngan Hol spelling, keeping the words practically the same:

Here is a start I am not fluent in Klingon. But I love the language and thought this would be great. Anyone willing to help with some of the names. I just started on this.

Here are the names on the original and my translation of the name..

Taurus - tawruS
Pagh - pagh
Xol - tlhol
T'Gha - tI'gha'
Toron - to'ron
Gr'oth - ghoH
Hegh'ta - Heghta'
T'ong - tI'ongh
Toh'kaht - toHqaD
T'acog - tI'aqogh
Buruk - buruq
Adhara - aDHa'ra'

Generally speaking, a word in Klingon is built up from syllables that consist of a vowel in between two consonants.
If you want to adhere to this rule in the naming of your places/planets/regions, then most seem to be fine.
The exceptions:

Gr'oth - I would have said Ho'rotlh or Ho'rogh
T'ong - no need for the "h" at the end. tlhIngan Hol has both the ng as well as the gh in its alphabet. tI'ong should be fine.
T'acog - personally I would put the a in front of the ' and keep it ta'qogh. tI'aqogh does not fit the above matrix, and introduces the superfluous vowel I.
Buruk - I'd introduce the ' behind the first u. a vowel on its own is supposed to be pronounced elongated, when not tempered by the '. buruq would sound like buuruuk (to me). I understand "Buruk" or maybe "Buruuk" is meant.
Adhara - A word does not start with a vowel. Not that I am aware of at least. make it 'aDHa'ra' and it is fine.
