Who here has come across fanfic or other fan-derived work (songs, vids, comics, etc.) to recommend? Name your favorites! Include a line or three or more about why you liked it and why others should follow your recommendation. Were the characters particularly well written? Was the plot cleverly constructed? Did the writer boldly go, exploring new territory and expanding some aspect of the ‘verse? Maybe they filled in some plot hole that’s been bothering you for ages....

Where possible, link directly to the work itself and not to the front door of the site. (You may be redirected there anyway.)

In the spirit of put up or shut up, I’ve rediscovered an old favorite: Star Trek 6 1/4: The Rantings Of Klingons. Apparently the author was testing out some new software mods and things go out of control. This stream-of-consciousness parody pulls out cliches and in-jokes at random and puts them through a blender. As with most blender drinks, the results may not be to everybody’s tastes. Beware foul language and out-of-character characterizations.

I also recommend the Firefly short ”First Kiss”. The author has an excellent ear for dialogue and uses it to tell the story with minimum narration. The choice of words is such that a reader familiar with the series can identify the speaker without tags. This is a personal favorite, but regardless of the fandom I’ve enjoyed most of ljc’s stuff that I have read.

Hey,

It may be superfluous, but how about te'reS his Klingon take on TOS (movies)?

There are now 3 (when is #4 coming, te'reS? ;-) episodes, and a title sequence.
