Question,

After the Orgainnians (in the episode “Errand of Mercy”) dictated a settlement between the Klingons and the Federation (by way of neutralizing the entire armed forces of both governments and explaining that there would be peace or they would do the same thing again) How would Klingons behave towards Federation teams when encountered?

Wouldn’t starting aggression and causing the neutralization of the Klingon’s entire armed forces be considered a grave dishonor?

Comments… Ideas?

I don't think the Organian lightbulbs dictated the settlement at all, rather I think they merely enforced a ceasefire and that the "Organian Peace Treaty", was negociated seperately by two enemies who desperately wanted to fight eachother, but were forced to find a way to fight nonviolently. The immediate aftermath of the Organian Intervention seems to be a sort of competition to demonstrate who could establish a better colony.  This is show to be played out in "Trouble with Tribbles", "Friday's Child" and to some extent "A Private Little War".

Honestly, we don't know what would have happened if someone did initiate violence.  In "Friday's Child" a redshirt drew a phaser at a Klingon, but was killed by a native Capellan warrior before he actually initiated violence.  The Klingon later was initiating violence, dueling with Kirk and later firing a phaser at Kirk and Spock without being neutralized.  Presumably the Organians. are either not fully omnipotent, or perhaps they were able to distinguish between the actions of an individual as opposed to an organized military action.  Or perhaps it was an empty threat from the beginning.   There are a number of possible ways you can interpret the apperent lack of Organian response after Organia depending on the specifics of your game, a bit of creativity you can use it to explain some constraints of your game, like "No you can't beam up and zorch the Klingon camp using your starship's weapons, the Organians would intervene."

Probably you can look to Corax's behavior in the bar on Station K-7 for how Klingons would behave towards the Federation.   They'd likely be looking to start a fight, but they would want to provoke the Federation to attacking first, just in case the Organian's intervene they could claim to be the injured party.

I like that, It definitely fits into the TOS klingon behavior pattern, but still gives my players a reason not to start disintegrating each other at their first encounter.

I can have the Orgainan treaty (and possible intervention) hovering in the background as a largely unknown dynamic, this allows the Klingons to be insulting and antagonistic without a total war breaking out.
