A couple days ago I was looking in [TKD pg 27] to translate “She is in my heart.” and came up with "tIqwIjDaq ghaHtaH."  The sentence is supposed to be an emotional sentiment but with tlhIngan Hol it may mean 'she is my heart with a dagger.'  Or something.

“She is in my heart.”
tIqwIjDaq ghaHtaH (in my heart + she continuously)

tIq = Heart (n)
-wIj = my (Type 4 noun suffix)
-Daq = locative (Type 5 noun suffix)
ghaH = she, he, her, him (pro)
-taH = continuous (Type 7 verb suffix)

That's a perfect translation of the phrase. If it's what you want to say, you've said it well.

I wish I could take credit but what I did was basically copy what was wriiten in TKD.  The only thing I did was remember had I'd probably had to use the -taH 'continous' suffix.

Don't apologise for that, soup borg. Most people get their start by altering the examples given in TKD to try to express their thoughts. Given how few examples it gives and how little explanation is behind them, I am amazed that anyone gets off to a successful start at all. Cookbooking it from a manual is a very difficult way to learn anything, and you got it right on your first try! Well done!

As ghunchuy already pointed out, the sentence is conveying that what you want to say.
If you had wanted to say "she has planted her dagger in my heart", which in itself would be the description of a rejection, you would have to say tIqwIjDaq tajDaj yuvchu' or something similar.


tIqwIjDaq = in my heart (heart mine locative)
tajDaj = his/her/its knife
yuv = he/she/it pushes/pushed
-chu' = perfectly
