Greetings all members of the Imperial Forums,

My name is Floris Schönfeld and I am a master student at the Royal conservatoire of Music in The Hague, The Netherlands.

For my study I have done an extensive research project on the high art of Klingon Opera.
I have founded the Klingon Terran Research Ensemble here in the Netherlands whose goal it is to further understand and perform traditional Klingon music.
With the ensemble we have developed various prototype Klingon ochestral instruments.
For results of my research and recent performances by the KTRE please see the links below.

http://www.ktre.nl
http://www.youtube.com/user/KTResearchEnsemble

The ensemble is currently working a pilot version of the Klingon opera 'U' that will performed at the Zeebelt Theater on the 4th, 5th and 6th of July in The Hague.
All Klingons are very welcome and will be admitted for free if in proper attire.
For reservations and information see www.zeebelt.nl

Yours honorably,

Floris Schönfeld

Hello (again) Floris,

Not trying to break the production before it is even performed, but for the Opera to be authentic as far as current knowledge of the Klingon culture/society is concerned, you might want to change the upper case U into a lowercase u...
Presuming the two apostrophies are part of the title, and not quotation marks, the opera would then have the name "Universe"...

naDev jIHqa' (here I am again ;-)

I did actually manage to attend at the last première performance of 'u', and after an initial "getting used to", I was pleasantly entertained by the only (as far as I am aware) attempt at Klingon Opera in the world.
The execution was pretty good. The Hol was not so, but Floris and I will be working on that, no doubt.
The KTRE is destined for glory, even when the road might be longer than expected 8-)
I will be posting pictures and little movie clips soon, and an appearance at the qepHom'a' in Saarbrücken is planned. I just have to bring Floris and the organiser, Quvar valer together...

Things are afoot in the low countries 8-)

Hol = language
'u' = universe

It was an honor to see SoplaHtaHwI' and friends at the performance on Sunday!

Thank you again for attending. I am glad you found the proceedings interesting.

I will indeed need to spend some time time on the Hol involved (and could use all the help I can get! http://www.klingon.org/smboard/index.php/topic,1507.0.html)

I am very interested to see the material you have captured during the performance. Let me know when have them online!

I will have the KTRE website updated by the weekend so there will be material of this performance. Look on www.ktre.nl.

I would be honored if forum members would let me know what they think! (you can post a response on the forum or better still on the site.)

If you hear from  Quvar valer I would like to send him a personal message concerning the qepHom'a'.

Much Qapla' to you!

Floris

Floris,

Before you get into the habit of using "qepHom'a'" let me tell you that is grammatically incorrect.
Both -Hom and -'a' are suffixes of Size/Importance. Hol verbs and nouns can only have one suffix of each type attached at a time.
the Saarbrücken qepHom has been dubbed qepHom'a' because the one European qep'a' (important/big gathering) in Brussels had less attendants than the following (since 2005) qepHommey in Saarbrücken... so it's a "big small meeting" 8-)

I'll contact Quvar today...

Hol = language
qep = meeting
-Hom = small/insignificant
-'a' = grand/important
-mey = plural suffix for things (not bodyparts and not creatures capable of two-way communication ;-)

I managed to upload all but a few pictures (and some small movies too) made on sunday last week (06JUL2008).

I have used Hol in the titles of the pictures...

Hmmz... The movies hide behind the "back to links" link.
I shall endeavour to improve my documenting skills...
