Greetings, siblings!
I am quite new to this place.  Quite new indeed.  Heck, I don't even know the proper Klingon word for "Newbie" (I just assumed it was nguwbI'...  ...but perhaps nI'yuwbI' would have been more appropriate?).  Took a while to sign up due to some problem with an open F-sock, but just a few minutes ago I got a nice little e-mail informing me that my account had been activated and that you're all freaks.  No, really, that's not me talking; you e-mail service seems to have developed a mind of its own!

Anyhow, here's to hoping I won't make a complete fool out of myself and be too ashamed ever to return!

Try chu'wI' (chu' be new, -wI' one who is/does). It has exactly the right meaning.

Ignore the fact that it also means trigger. : )

I'm quite new to the whole Trek thing (became mildly interested in July or maybe August this year, just recently started digging deeper into the franchise) but already the ways of the Klingons has caught my attention...

How is it that you came to the Trekiverse relatively late in life? And which came first for you, Klindom or general Trek?

Ah, right, sorry 'bout that!

They started airing Star Trek: The Next Generation on Viasat TV6 here a few months ago, and having heard that there was a Star Trek MMOG in development I figured I'd check the franchise out.  At first I thought it was a lousy show, and I only kept on watching it because I wanted to try to find out what others saw in it.  Still, in time I myself began to fall in love with the show.  I'm no big fan of soaps, but I've learned to see only the things I like about the show and neglect the rest (family drama just ain't for me...  ...unless it involves strange, alien rituals).
I'm quite fascinated by how the producers manage to manifest complex concepts (physical, metaphysical, biological, theological, et cetera) in the show.  Some of the methods they use are based on some rather out-dated theories, but that doesn't stop them from being interesting.
Because Klingons are popular in popular culture, and because I knew they had a well-developed language, I assumed that Spock - arguably the most famous Star Trek character - was a Klingon.  Boy, was I surprised to hear Captain Picard refer to that hairball, Worf, as a Klingon!
I've been interested in auxiliary languages for some time, and that's probably why I fell in love with Klingons.

Hmm, that makes sense.  I'll do just that!

Picard is wrong.  I'm not sure what Worf is, but he's no Klingon in my ornery opinion.  Cheesy Klingon Grin   Actually Spock's Vulcan language is also a constructed language, though not as complete as Klingon.

It looks like you already know a lot about the language, in someways probably more than I.  I look forward to discussing klingon languages and culture with you.  Welcome to the Klingon Imperial Forums

Indeed; a whipped, prunejuice-drinking humanoid with ridges on his forehead, that's what he is Wink

Indeed.  "Dif-Tor Heh Smusma" + five or so more sentences != Enough to transcribe Shakespearian texts into Wink
I look forward to discussing klingon languages and culture with you.
As I do with you!

I have already "spoken" with you on other threads but would like to belatedly add my greetings and welcome.

As for Worf... well I like him as a character.  I find him interesting because sociologists have argued for years about the nature v nurture debate and Worf is s strong argument for the nurture side of the arguement.  He was born a Klingon but grew up in a Federation family.  He very much wants to be Klingon and in some ways, shows us Klingon culture through the eyes of an outsider.  He reminds me very much of the proverbial child looking into the sweet shop window.  (sorry, my dad was a psychologist and I got too many lectures on cognitive development)

Anyway, good to met you

Indeed, he is an interesting character of whom I am quite fond, but still he is no proper Klingon.  Then again, at least there is honor in him, which is more than you can say for many of the other Klingons that the Enterprise has encountered.  Corrupt leaders, Romulan collaborators and all-around cowards...
