« on: 10 10, 2006, 02:20: PM »

Greetings from the chIrgh.

It is with great honor that I report to you all that as of now, there is going to be a KSG 2007!

We have had our initial meeting with the events coordinator for the Holiday Inn West in Gainesville, (Same location as last year), and have reserved a date.

The date of the next Klingon Summer Games shall be April 27th - 29th 2007.

This was not our first choice of dates, however this was the only time available to us that met the criteria of being close to the same time as last year.

In the next few weeks we will be setting up a "News List" to inform those who are interested in updates about KSG 2007. You may PM me here if you would like to be included.

Sometime in January (Or there abouts), we intend to launch the "Official" KSG 2007 web-site. I will post more on that as the time draws nearer.

We will post a Hotel Code for room reservations as soon as we get it from the Holiday Inn.

For those who are unfamiliar with the Klingon Summer Games go HERE to see last years Web-site and possibly get a little bit of an idea about what we are up to.

Yes it is... Slowly anyway...<Grin>... Last years reception was really good, if the turn out was small... We look forward to a larger turn out this time around... Ohio is not that far right?...<Hint-Hint>...

Klingon Summer Games 2007

The Dugh toy’wI’ chIrgh in association with Voidian Productions, is happy to announce that work is progressing at this time on KSG 2007. We had every good intent to launch our new website by now, however as this has not yet come to pass, we are posting this info to let folks know that we are still hosting KSG this year! Some details follow –

Dates:

Friday April 27th 2007 thru Sunday April 29th.

Location and Hotel Reservations:

Our Hotel will once again be the Holiday Inn West in Gainesville Florida.
Click below to make reservations online, for driving directions, and for hotel information.

www.gainesvillehotelconferencecenter.com

NOTE: The Hotel must have your reservations prior to March 26th 2007 in order to guarantee the KSG group rate. At this time we are still in negotiations with the Hotel on what that rate will be, but likely it will be comparable to the $72 per night from last year.

Hotel Reservation Code – TBA

Tickets:

Tickets will be $75 per attendee. At this time we are still intending to set up a Pay-pal option for those who wish to use it, although you may also mail your payment to:

Klingon Summer Games c/o Voidian Productions
PO Box – 140132
Gainesville, Florida 32614-0132

Checks and Money Orders (Preferred) should be made out to:

LeShea Long.

What do you get in exchange for your hard earned Latinum? Quite a bit actually, each ticket price includes;

- Admission to KSG.
- Complimentary gift bags, and I.D. badges.
- Participation in the various events throughout the weekend.
- Access to the hospitality suite.
- Friday (April 27th), dinner.
- Saturday (April 28), Breakfast and Lunch.
- Saturday night (April 28), Awards banquet.
- Saturday night (April 28), post Awards party, including live entertainment. (We have NOT secured War Band at this time, but we WILL have music of some sort).
- Sunday (April 29th), Breakfast.

Things NOT included in your Ticket price:

-   Hotel Accommodations.
-   Transportation to and from the event.
-   Meals beyond those listed above.
-   T-Shirts.
-   KSG 2006 highlights DVD.
-   Farewell Luncheon on Sunday (April 29th). (Location to be announced).

Miscellaneous Errata:

-   KSG 2007 T-Shirts: These will be made available for purchase at the event, and will be priced at $20 per T-Shirt regardless of size. (We will have more sized XXXL this year).
-   KSG 2006 highlights DVD. Priced at $7 per DVD.

A few notes on the Hotel and Food:

Last year a few folks who had not paid, helped themselves to the meals served by the Hotel. The Hotel staff did a head count of these people and charged us for them. While we understand that KSG is a little more expensive then traditional Cons, we also can not afford to feed everyone for free, (As much as we would like to).

We believe that this happened because some of those involved were not directly participating in the games themselves, and so may have thought that it was cool, since they had not been playing.

Lesson learned, if you (Or others in your party), want to be at the KSG Awards banquet, (And who wouldn’t), but do not intend to participate in the full weekend, make a note of that during registration. We will quote you a “Dinner and Party” ticket price which will grant you access to the festivities on Saturday night. Likely the cost of these tickets will be in the neighborhood of $40.

We hope to see some new faces this year, and are very much looking forward to a successful and fun event!

If there are questions about Registration, Ticket prices or any thing else related to KSG feel free to shoot us an E-mail: HERE.

Glad to see you have an update on the games. Of course I still am unlikely to make it. The best rates I can put together are about $500 for 3 days, that would include an awful lot of traveling over the course of the weekend. Still, the event looks great and makes me wish there was more of Klingon presence up in my neck of the woods.

Well, food for the weekend (Friday night thru Sunday morning), is included in your ticket price. So that would cut the budget down a lot I would think? Also if you were to let us know ahead of time, we could most likely help you find a roomate or two. That would also save some cash as far as the Hotel goes...

We would really like to have you join us... PM me if you are even a little tempted, and we'll see what we can work out... Oh, and of course since you are fellow Clergy we could put you to work for the weekend as a judge, which could mean a couple bucks off the ticket price as well...

Let me know...

For those keeping track, the new web-site for KSG is up and running... It is still a bit basic, but will continue to be developed as we go...

If you would like to take a look around, you can go HERE to check it out...

As a librarian, I am happy to see that you have translated "library" on your site as chIrgh 'temple'.  Thumbs up!

Indeed... When we were first looking at how to incorporate the Clergy into our existing clubs organizational structure we were at something of a loss. We wanted to be a religious institution, but we also wanted to be a historical database of sorts. At least in terms of function within the club. unfortunately there were very few words available in tlhIngan Hol [The Klingon language] to use.

The word temple was the closest thing to church that appeared in TKD and makes more sense anyway. Also the humour of Dr. Okrand, in the similarity in sound between the words chIrgh [Temple] and church, was not lost on us...*Grin*...

Library is actually the "Deployment Level" of our Clergy chapter in K.L.A.W. 4th Fleet. (Long over due for promotion)... Anyway, the term chIrgh, for us litterally could be used in the same way as saying "Ship" or "Vessel"...

All of that said, I agree... Libraries are (Or at least should be) considered Temples...*Chuckle*...

ShinRa,

We would love for the Summer Games to be eventually equated with being the Klingon Olympics... We likely have to get a few more years under our belt before we could claim such however...*Smirk*...
